E340 Bear McCreary on Great Movie Trailers, the Art of Collaboration, and Making Time for What You Love

This week, we're scratching The Itch to get cinematic! Our guest, Bear McCreary, is the man responsible for scores of scores for films, shows, and games. He created music for The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Black Sails, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, God of War, and literally 100 other projects. And somewhere in all that work, he also found time to assemble an all-star team of collaborators for his own metal albums, 2024's The Singularity and this year's The Singularity: Ekleipsis. The list of rock and metal royalty he's worked with includes Joe Duplantier of Gojira, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, Slash, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Stewart Copeland of The Police... and those are just a few from the new album!

We had a blast talking with Bear about his successes and failures, his pinch-me moments, his favorite movie trailers, and just how he manages to balance family life and the creative projects he's constantly challenging himself with. He's full of insight, introspection, and great stories. You're gonna dig this one. Enjoy.
